First Certificate in English (FCE)
FCE is an upper intermediate level exam. It is designed for learners, whose knowledge of English is adequate for many practical purposes, including business and study. Candidates should be able to construct an argument and use appropriate communication styles for various situations.
FCE is a valuable qualification for anyone who wants to work or study abroad or to develop a career which requires language skills, including business, medicine, engineering and many other professions.
All papers are sent to Cambridge ESOL to be marked. Results are available online approximately eight weeks after the exam date.
There are three passing grades: A, B and C and failing grades: D and E. Students who pass the exam are awarded a certificate approximately one month after receiving their results.
FCE is usually held three times a year - in March, June and December.
